How can I get involved?

Walk to Defeat ALS: Help at our annual Walk to Defeat ALS events, held throughout the Spring and Fall seasons. Duties include registration, route monitors, parking lot attendants, t-shirt distribution, and more!

What is Hospital for Special Surgery - Sports Safety? 

HSS Sports Safety offers public health education programming as part of the Education and Academic Affairs Division at Hospital for Special Surgery. HSS is nationally ranked No. 1 for orthopedics, and No. 3 for rheumatology by U.S.News & World Report (2017-18). HSS has been among the top-ranked hospitals for orthopedics and rheumatology for 26 consecutive years.

Little Sisters of the Assumption Family Health Service

What is the Little Sisters of the Assumption Family Health Service?

LSA Family Health Service, founded by The Little Sisters of the Assumption in 1958, is a neighborhood-based nonprofit that delivers a holistic model of human services. We help families meet their most fundamental needs: food, clothing, healthcare, and a safe home. Through home visits, on-site services, support groups, classes and more, we help the most vulnerable achieve the wellness and strength they need to move forward.

How can I get involved?

Are you a high school student looking for volunteer opportunities and/or to meet community service requirements? Our Director of Volunteer Services will work with you to find opportunities that fit your schedule and interests – download a flyer with more details.

Interested in becoming more involved? Join our Youth Board, a group of committed, energetic students in grades 8 – 12 who support LSA Family Health Service through their own fundraising efforts.

The Bone Marrow Foundation

What is the Bone Marrow Foundation? 

The Bone Marrow Foundation, founded in 1992, is dedicated to improving the quality of life for bone marrow, stem cell and cord blood transplant patients and their families by providing vital financial assistance, comprehensive resources, educational information, physician referrals, and emotional support programs. 

Transplants treat over 70 life-threatening illnesses including cancers, genetic disorders, and other diseases. The Bone Marrow Foundation is the only organization of its kind that does not limit assistance to a specific disease, type of transplant, or age range. All of the Foundation’s programs and services are offered to patients and their families free of charge.

How can I get involved?

Dates are on an ongoing basis of need. Two volunteer opportunities at any one time. Adults and juniors and seniors high school students. No costs involved.

Hyper IgM Foundation

What is the Hyper IgM Foundation?

Hyper IgM Foundation, a non-profit organization, was founded in 2015 by dedicated parents, healthcare professionals, and friends. Our mission is to improve the treatment, quality of life and long-term outlook for children and adults living with Hyper IgM through research, support, education, and advocacy to families and patients.

How can I get involved?

The Hyper IgM Foundation is looking for qualified Communications and Social Media intern with interest in the nonprofit sector and/or medical field. Facebook and Instagram page management experience would be helpful. Some Medical writing experience is a plus but not required. The intern will work closely with the President of the Hyper IgM Foundation as well as with the board of directors. The intern will gain experience and knowledge on how to run and grow a 501c3 nonprofit and experience in nonprofit fundraising. The intern will gain in-depth exposure to a rare-disease community and an understanding of primary immune deficiencies.
Generally, we look for 1-2 interns at any time. This is an unpaid internship position with a predicted 10-15 hours a week working remotely. We are looking for a spring or summer intern with an option to continue internship over the fall semester as well. This is ideal for a junior or senior in high school or a freshman or sophomore in college.

Cayuga’s Watchers

What is Cayuga’s Watchers?

Cayuga’s Watchers is a student-led 501(c)(3) independent organization founded in 2012 to mitigate the harms associated with high-risk drinking while promoting student safety at Cornell University. We currently employ over 200 undergraduate students who are extensively trained in subtle, but effective bystander intervention. "Watchers" are invited by the host, blending in with the party while looking out for excessive drinking, unwanted physical contact, or anything else potentially dangerous. Additionally, Cayuga's Watchers fulfills an educational mission by training dozens of student organizations in the same methods. We aim to become an established national model known for students helping students keep the party safe.

How can I get involved?

If you're interested in promoting positive social norms and teaching others how to be effective, active bystanders, then we have a job for you!

Responsibilities include revising training materials/curriculum, delivering training to large groups of students (in-person and virtually), observing and evaluating fellow trainers, recruiting new trainers, promoting CW's activities across campus, and periodically meeting with CW's Board of Directors. An awesome candidate is a confident speaker who can adapt to each audience, give/accept constructive feedback, and represent CW's mission in spaces across campus.

What is inVISABLE?

inVISABLE is a social media platform to connect the chronically ill community. It is currently an Instagram page but is in the process of becoming a full-fledged app that will promote community cohesion.

Planned Parenthood of New York City

What is Planned Parenthood of New York City? 

Since 1916, Planned Parenthood of New York City (PPNYC) has been an advocate for and provider of reproductive health services and education for New Yorkers. Providing 100,000 patient visits annually, PPNYC’s health care centers in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens and Staten Island offer reproductive health services, including gynecological care, contraception, pregnancy testing, abortion, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, HIV testing, prevention and counseling, transgender services, and vasectomy. Through a threefold mission of clinical services, education, and advocacy, PPNYC brings better health and more fulfilling lives to each new generation of New Yorkers. As a voice for reproductive freedom, PPNYC supports legislation and policies to ensure that all New Yorkers will have access to the full range of reproductive health care services and information.
